Marissa, 121 & the Bees

First....I must tell you that Marissa is NOT 16!  She's actually in her early 30's.  With that said, Marissa & her husband, Don are good friends with my husband, Steve & I.  So when they found out they were pregnant, they invited us to dinner to tell us the big news.  We were sitting at the table at 121.  They just told us their big news and we were hooting & hollaring when the server came over:

"Are you celebrating something this evening?"  asks the server.

"Yes," I say.  "Marissa is pregnant!"

"Oh that's great!  Are you guys the parents?"

I think someone just threw cold water on my face!  Seriously?

"Uuuhhh....no.  We're friends." I say shell-shocked.  And I hastily add, "We're only 10 years older than them so I couldn't possible be her mother!"  My ego was bruised.

Anyway, I got over myself.  We had a good laugh and then had a very nice dinner.  I bought a better wrinkle creme later that week.

About the images:  One of Don's hobbies is beekeeping.  Cool right?  So when I found the bee stickers, I knew we had to incorporate them somehow.  I love the way the "Bee image" turned out!  One of my favorites!

Emily, Class of 2012

It’s Emily’s senior year at The Gunnery in Washington Depot, but she is actually from Vermont! Ironically, Emily isn't a big fan of the cold or snow, but she's an amazing ice hockey player. Emily is Pittsburgh's biggest fan--she even wants to move there one day. Go Penguins!

Emily has three brothers back home (Timothy, Samuel, and Ross), so this was her time to shine. She brought the cutest clothes and accessories to the shoot. Even her shoes were perfect! She has a passion for shopping and anything purple, and two of her favorite stores are Charlotte Russe and Body Central. When Emily isn’t busy with school or cheering on the Penguins, she can be found drawing, listening to Tim McGraw or Enrique Iglesias, and of course—watching Jersey Shore.

p.s. - 'Looking for Class of 2013 Senior Model Reps!

Mackenzie's Big Girl Chair

I met with Mackenzie’s Mom, Jen when her daughter was just over 1 year old. Mackenzie didn’t come for the consultation, so when Jen told me her daughter had red curly hair I was ecstatic! I practically drooled just thinking about all the bright colors I would use to compliment her beautiful complexion.

Mackenzie ended up being the sweetest, happiest little girl. Her Mom, Jen was open to all my crazy ideas for her daughter’s photo-shoot. She even loved my idea of Mackenzie sitting in the middle of a bunch of “Ugly Dolls” (I couldn’t have asked for a more fun client!).

Jen came to the shoot with the cutest wardrobe for Mackenzie, which made choosing her outfits an awesome experience. We went with a lot of bright colors and an adorable pair of  timeless overalls. The entire session was a blast, but Mackenzie’s favorite part was being able to sit in the pink “big-girl” chair!

Kathleen, Class of 2012

Kathleen’s photo shoot was a delight. She came with her Mom, Virginia, and it was fantastic to see the proud look in Virginia eyes as her lovely daughter was being photographed.

Kathleen wore the most adorable, bohemian-style dress that complimented the tall grass perfectly (Check out some of her pictures below!). It did start to rain toward the end of her session, but we were able to squeeze in a quick photo of Kathleen in her Dad’s favorite Yankees hat—what a perfect birthday gift for him!

She was truly a pleasure to work with… we even got to chatting about some of her hobbies outside of senior year at Pomperaug High. An avid runner, Kathleen’s involved with the indoor and outdoor track teams, as well as cross-country. She also loves country music (Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts are some of her favorites), reading Sarah Dessen novels, and shopping at Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. Another thing? She can’t live without goldfish.

The Ol' Dreaded Garden Hose

This family usually comes to visit me in the summer for their holiday card.  This past year, Catherine (mom) and I decided we would "bust out the garden hose" for the kids portrait session.  As you can see by Christian's wagging tongue, he was all too happy to be in charge of the hose!  Yes, Emilie got wet!

We also spent a little time down at the pond in the canoe.  I love the B&W image - it's such a sweet expression of their sibling bond.  That was before he hosed her down, ofcorse.

Summer is just around the corner - what family memories would you like to create this year?

Little Pumpkin

I met with Shirin back in October when she was pregnant with "Pumpkin".  During our consultation, we talked about different ideas but both of us LOVED the idea of stuffing Pumpkin in a carved out pumpkin.  I was siked for this photoshoot!

The day came for our appointment.  We tired Pumpkin (Alexander) out first with a family portait session then dad took big brother for a little walk while Shiren, Pumpkin & I got to work. I thought the pumpkin I (well, actually my husband) had carved was going to be plenty big but it was a snug fit - no blankets and pillow stuffers needed for this guy!  We finally eased the poor kid into the pumpkin and got him as comfortable as one can be while sitting in a kinda slimey, cool, wet orb and .....waited for him to fall asleep.  And waited. And waited a little more.  Finally, Alexander passed out for about 90 seconds and here's what we got!

Gina's Senior Portraits

Gina is graduating this year from Litchfield High School.  She's an avid soccer player and a lovely young woman with a family right out of, My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding (her words, not mine!)  except she's Italian not Greek.  We all had fun during her senior portrait session - take a look at some of Gina's favorite images:
